Kurt Anderson is the ruthless manager of a New York department store in financial trouble. He has no qualms about terminating a 20-year employee or flirting with every lady he encounters. One such victim is Madeline, a lovely young woman looking for work. Anderson recruits her as a salesperson after they spent the night together. Madeline is ashamed, especially after falling for Martin West, a rising young star at the store, and fearing that he would discover the truth about her “career move.”
