The Ox-Bow Incident begins with two weary cowboys, Gil Carter (Henry Fonda) and Art Croft (Harry Morgan), arriving in the small town of Bridger’s Wells, Nevada. As dawn breaks, Martin writes a heartbreaking letter to his wife before the lynching proceeds.
When the posse returns to town, they learn that Kinkaid is alive and the real culprits have been arrested. The realization that innocent men were hanged leads to devastating repercussions, including Major Tetley’s suicide and Gil’s somber decision to deliver Martin’s letter to his family.
